Complaints are rising across Delhi regarding unauthorized individuals illegally collecting parking fees at MCD parking sites through unofficial QR codes. This is not only a fraud against citizens but also raises serious concerns about the discipline and transparency of the MCD’s parking management system.
Taking this matter seriously, I have written a detailed letter today to Hon’ble Mayor Shri Raja Iqbal Singh Ji, demanding immediate, strict, and system-wide action on this issue.
📌 Key recommendations highlighted in my letter:
✔️ Mandatory large and clear official boards/flexes at every parking site displaying contractor name, contact details, license duration, and name of authorized parking fee collector.
✔️ Compulsory uniform and photo ID card for every authorized collector, clearly marked with Delhi MCD.
✔️ QR-based payments to be allowed only through MCD-approved payment platforms, preventing misuse of fake QR codes.
✔️ Heavy penalties and immediate cancellation of contracts for contractors found employing unauthorized staff or allowing illegal fee collection.
✔️ Regular audits of all parking sites, verification of videos/evidence, and an official helpline for public complaints.
✔️ Ensuring complete transparency and accountability in all parking operations for public safety and trust.
This issue directly impacts citizens’ financial safety, administrative credibility, and public order. Therefore, I have requested the Hon’ble Mayor to implement these measures across all zones with immediate effect and take strict punitive action against violators.
